2016 and Oxford Downs Youth Cricket
We have hit the road running in the Youth Section.
We held our second indoor nets session last Sunday and had a fabulous turnout. Many thanks to Martin Bibby for running such a great session, to the parents who volunteered to help and Sam Collins who is volunteering as part of his D of E programme. Get well soon to Dave Spilsbury who was ill and couldn’t make the first two sessions but will be running later sessions. Sunday.

1pm – 2pm Junior U9/U11 (Boys and Girls)
2pm – 3pm Junior U13 (Boys and Girls)

£5 per session
The coaching line up for 2016 will be
U9’s – We welcome back Paul Quibell-Smith who coached the U9’s last year with great energy and enthusiasm and we are looking forward to another season of fun and development. The team manager will be Len Bodill. The U9’s will be playing in the local triangular tournaments with Eynsham, Witney Mills and Minster Lovell
U11’s – We would like to welcome Dave Spilsbury to our coaching line up. Dave has a great pedigree with many years of junior coaching and 2 sons who have been through the cricket process so we are looking forward working with him. The U11’s will be playing in the U11 league (11 aside hard ball) on Sundays.
U13’s – The U13’s will be coached by Luke List assisted by Richard Gauntlett. Luke and Richard have many years of experience within the club and we really appreciate them joining the coaching line up this season. The match manager will be Nick Owens. The U13’s will be playing in the following competitions
Ron Maudsley (11 aside knock out) Sundays
U13 League (11 aside hard ball ) Midweek
Gauntlett Goblett (8 a side hard ball) Midweek
U15’s – We welcome Ted Heape back to coach the U15’s into shape ably assisted by Mark Collins the match manager.
The U15’s will be playing in the U15 11 aside League on Mondays
Girls – Coach to be confirmed but the current plan is to have a combination of girls coaching and co-ed coaching with joint coaching sessions/friendlies with local clubs. We will also be entering the Lady Taverners Competition.
Junior Noticeboard We have taken over the noticeboard on the back wall of the club and we will use this to share information. Please check out the photo board of volunteers so that you know who you are looking for!! We will also use this to record individual junior achievements so please let me know your news.
