After winning the toss for the first time this season, Darryl put Great and Little Tew into bat on a wet pitch, Tew took their time to get their eye in, however, this was quickly disrupted by Brad Airey taking 2 early wickets. Still, Tew stuck in on a tough wicket, with a couple of dropped catches from behind the stumps, the Downs bowlers kept on chipping away, with Waz Mehmood once again being the pick of the bowlers with 4-19 off his 10 overs, helped out by some very impressive catches in the deep from Cam Spilsbury.
Downs kept their bowling tight with Stevie Roberts finishing off their innings with a sublime 2-8, kept Tew down to 143-9 off of their 50 overs with only 26 wides this week.
Going out on a somewhat dried out wicket, Downs had no rush to chase the target down. With the early loss of Darryl, Waz and debutant Andrew Russell looked strong at the crease together, till a good catch caused the departure of Waz, and soon after, Ben Denton was caught at first slip; which entered Lakey to the crease, and while Dre Russell brought up his 50, Lake was hitting sixes into the next field across, hitting a quick fire 40 on top of his 1-21 figures. And after the strong partnership between Lake and Russell, only 5 were required to win. Finished off by a Russell 4, ending on 76*.
This finished a very strong team performance with everyone in the side contributing to the win, and onto Horley next week!
