On a perfect evening for a game of cricket, the U13 faced Challow & Childrey at Challow in the first round of this years Ron Maudsley Trophy.
Oxford Downs lost the toss and were put in to bat first. Some fantastic tight bowling from the opposition with only 1 wide and no other extras for the first innings saw Oxford Downs reach 61 off their 20 overs, with only Freddy Selby-Lowndes having retired on 30 runs. With such a small total to defend, the boys bowled and fielded superbly and managed to bowl the opposition out for 57 in what was quite a tight and thrilling match. Special mention to Freddie Basil for the catch of the season, Ollie Armstrong for taking 2 great wickets, Archie McLintock, not only for keeping the sprits high with his chatter but also for having a hand in 3 wickets, but man of the match goes to Freddy Selby-Lowndes. Well done boys, the lucky pink balls strike again, on the next round where we face Pangbourne & Whitchurch.
